A Touch Heartbroken

I have been avoiding something and today it became completely unavoidable. My dog has lymphoma. I do not know how bad it is, how we're going to treat it or what steps are next. I just know I feel heartbroken. She's only 8 years old and I can tell she feels crappy and I cannot tell her it will all be okay. I just want to crawl into bed and have it all go away. Instead I am looking for dog oncologists.

We saw a specialist yesterday who is a surgeon. The tumors are too large and connected to her bits to remove. Right now the hope is to do chemotherapy, and shrink the tumors either completely or so they can be removed without damaging her. Chemo will not cure her, the best hope is a long period of remission. I hope for that. I am not ready for her to go anywhere just yet. I also do not want to make any of these decisions at all.

Tiny sweet pup.

  1. I am so sad to hear this :( I hope you puppy is able to pull through and I am sending you some healing vibes!

I know how you feel my cat had to get surgery for a cancerous tumor it really scared me! So far so good but I still worry.

It's sometimes tough being a mom to our fur babies!

  2. Oh Anna, that is such sad news about Dumplin'. I hope she's not in too much pain and the chemo is successful.

And I hope that she's there to brighten your days and take over your bed at nights for the longest possible time.

  3. Oh man, Anna. My heart hurts for you. My boyfriend and his family went through this with their boxer, Marley, a few years ago. If you ever want to chat, you know how to find me. Is this going to disrupt your Costa Rica plans?

  4. Thanks Ladies. Appreciate all the sweet thoughts and wishes. We're off to the oncologist this Sunday and then 2nd opinion on Thursday. So far it is not going to interfere with vacation plans and sort of can't because nothing is change-able or refundable so it's not like I can do much about it. I was hoping to start treatment next week but not sure that's realistic. Who knows what the doctors will say though.

  5. Oh you poor thing Anna, what an agonising thing to go through. I've crawled out of the woodwork back into circulation to read sad news. Sending lots of love and happy, healthy vibes to your little hound.
